The 1st Day of New Year

Being a compulsive procrastinator, I love to postpone things till deadlines are breathing down my neck. But if the work isn’t a professional obligation then it can wait till eternity. I had been dillydallying a lot of things like arranging and cataloging my books for past 6 months and there was this story (of many other stories) I had been thinking for more than a year, but the idea was yet to be written down. I am an old believer of - Better late then never. In other words I love to be late.

I was so late this time that the year ended by the time I could start some of the pending work.

So as soon as they started showing a countdown clock on TV and fireworks started making sky look beautiful and atmosphere polluted, I locked myself in my room and started writing the story idea on my note pad...I wrote till late night and when I stopped I had a basic story and the concept note ready (I am yet to work on the event flow and a proper script, though some events and story moments are crystal clear in my mind but I am yet to write them and work on various ways of approaching them).

Finally I was able to see a lot more happening in the story which was a vague idea till few hours ago. I could sleep now...

The next morning I don't know how or why but I was up early in the morning. Mom had a pleasant shock when she entered my room with her diya-batti and found me awake. (Even I was surprized!)

"U awake...do you have a meeting in the office..." she asked. (She usually wakes me up whenever I have an early morning meeting in office).

"Well..we have an off today.." I smiled..."..Magar Kaafi Kaam Poora Karna Hai..so woke up early..."

(I really enjoyed her reactions)

Had a quick breakfast and decided to arrange my books. Neha (my sis) not only helped me in doing this but also was kind enough to click some pics of the whole mission.

PS. I felt really good and wasted 3-4 days in this 'feel good' mood. I am yet to write down couple of story ideas which I have been discussing with many friends but procrastinating for more than a year by now...will start working on them soon...very soon...

Do let me know how was your 1st day of 2009?

Other than that my favorite collections like Manga Buddha, CineBook, Raj Comics.....

you have some of my wanted list like Watchmen, Absolute Dark Knight, Mouse Guard, DC Black & White, Bone complete edition, ... man you have a collection to die for... and yours is among the widest base.

You remind a lot of me in you.... I too enjoy spending half of my long holidays and vacations in my comics collection pile. sorting and cataloging them... by love of which I actually started blogging about the passion. You have a sweet sister to assist you in your mission, for me I always have to wage a lone battle all the time :)

The top of the pic is "Need a Break"..... You are like a tiny little comic lover..... which is inside all of us....

By the way, you cannot beat me in the Art of Procastination.... I hold a Masters in that :) and be ready for a night dacoit visit .... hhehehehehee

OMG!!!To say that I love books would be an understatement! I save money the whole year round to splurge on just two things-books and travel. And I also have a classic "monica geller" sort of organizing fetish. So the task of arranging a bookshelf...On a scale of one to orgasmic...it would have a definite tilt towards the latter. Good collection. :)

Sunne mein toh achha saal lagta tha but started with disasters and Im doing the management now, or something like it.

You seemed to have an interesting day though. Itni saari books. I feel like a dumb blond.

It's kind of funny how I came to your blog from MSN Spaces.. where I think you had toonfactory something blog.
Good to see you on Blogger. :)

Coming to the point, it's kind of strange how I am reading this post now.. today, on Dec 18th, 2009.. when a whole year is almost coming to an end.. But I remember my Jan 1st 2009 as clearly as my favourite book cover.. I was working extra hours and I came home and did a lot of reading.. can't remember that.. But the day was good.

And good that you organised your books. :)

Keep writing. Or drawing. Or both. :)
